In my September Ulta haul, I purchased three shades from the Essie Winter Gel Couture collection. I’ve already been wearing Gold Gilding and Taupe of the Line, but I hadn’t worn Amethyst Noir until this week! This was the darkest shade in the collection, so I had to find the perfect time to wear it!
Essie states that this shade is a rich, deep burgundy. In the bottle, you can definitely see the violet, red undertone. However, on the nails, I find that the undertone doesn’t pull through quite as much. With two coats, the overall shade looks like a glossy black, which is a little disappointing! The formula is very similar to other cream shades in the Gel Couture line.
It went on smoothly and created a thicker layer to the nail. With it being a cream shade, I would imagine this will last around a week on my nails! Overall, I wish the shade showed a hint more of the violet undertone on the nails, but it’s still a pretty shade for the winter (and you can’t beat the formula)!
What do you think of the Amethyst Noir shade from Essie? Let me know in the comments below! 😊
